Review – SVS 3000 In-Wall Subwoofer
The new SVS speakers and subwoofers are the result of a complete reimagination of the company’s product lineup, leveraging their expertise to push the boundaries of consumer audio performance within their price range. As a top subwoofer brand, SVS is reimagining what’s possible in that particular loudspeaker category.
The 17 Ultra R|Evolution subwoofer includes the most technology that SVS has ever put into a subwoofer. This speaker line has been completely reimagined, according SVS President Gary Yacoubian. “They are not 17-inch versions of our old 16 Ultra subwoofers.” Instead, they feature a completely new driver with dual voice coil design, and a completely new amplifier dual mono design (literally an amplifier on each voice coil, Yacoubian noted.)
The new 17 Ultra subs also feature a completely new DSP with five times the processing power of the previous generation. The result, according to Yacoubian, is super deep, low-frequency response, massive output, but with “delicacy, speed, transience, and musicality that you expect from SVS.”
After the company previous product launch, Yacoubian says, he and his team were “restlessly thinking about” how they could push the envelope of what’s possible.
“That becomes really, really important when you’re launching new flagship products,” Yacoubian said. “The Ultra R|Evolution speakers… they are out best speakers. They are everything we’ve figured out about what’s possible anywhere near our price point,” he said.
