Alfred International, the smart and connected lock subsidiary of GHT Door Hardware, has announced the U.S. launch of the Alfred DB2S with built-in RFID card reader and Z-Wave Long Range (ZWLR) in the U.S. market.
The Alfred DB2S Smart Lock boasts a built-in RFID card reader, capable of recognizing up to 250 unique RFID cards. Two RFID tags are included, allowing a door to be unlocked with a simple tap. In addition, this solution supports up to 250 pin codes and features auto re-locking with an adjustable timer, ensuring a home remains secure at all times.
Inclusion of a rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack eliminates the need for disposable batteries, providing 8-12 months of use off a single charge. The DB2S features a minimalist patented lock design, available with either a black chrome or satin nickel bezel and illuminated touch screen.
“Alfred’s commitment to innovation and reliability ensures that we stay ahead in the competitive smart lock market, offering products that not only meet but exceed expectations for modern home design,” stated Alfred Head of Product and Integrations Brad Cook.
The DB2S connects via Bluetooth with the Alfred Home App (iOS and Android) to control and monitor the smart lock and user settings locally from a mobile device.
To monitor and control lock activity while away from home, the DB2S offers an optional Alfred Connect v2 Wi-Fi bridge, Z-Wave Plug-In, and Zigbee Plug-in (each sold separately) which adds interoperability with other smart home devices on any of the three protocols as well as the ability to manage the Alfred DB2S remotely. The DB2S allows unlimited digital Bluetooth keys that can be shared with friends, family or even renters within the Alfred Home App.
“We have chosen to strategically integrate our products with existing systems rather than developing our own software platform,” Cook concluded. “This allows us to leverage the strengths of other technology providers, ensuring seamless compatibility and expanding our market reach while maintaining our focus on producing practical, building code compliant, high-performance door locks. We are not building software or running any proprietary platforms, and there are no recurring subscription fees with our products. Our focus is on security, convenience and avoiding superfluous features that complicate the device,”.
The Alfred DB2S Smart Lock is now available for purchase for $299.00 USD and is currently available through major retailers online including Lowes, Home Depot, Amazon, QVC, and Electronicexpress.com.
