Cambridge Audio will be introducing VU meters to its Evo range, bringing a much-requested feature to its all-in-one audio players.
Showing the live signal levels of audio equipment, VU (volume unit) meters have become iconic for the retro ticking needles that defined an analog audio era.
Via an over-the-air (OTA) software update in May 2024, all existing Evo 75 and Evo 150 units will be upgraded with the option to display VU meters on their 6.8” LCD panel. This gives listeners the choice to switch between viewing the new VU meters display, or to take advantage of Evo’s ability to showcase the current album artwork while playing.
This announcement coincides with the announcement of the new Evo 150 DeLorean Edition, which will also benefit from the update.
Built upon the Evo 150 all-in-one integrated amplifier and network player, Evo 150 DeLorean Edition goes the extra mile, stripping down to bare metal with meticulously crafted, brushed bodywork and sumptuous silver detailing that pay homage to the iconic DeLorean DMC-12.
“This update brings shows our ongoing commitment to excellence and innovation in the Evo range – those out there with listeners, as well as those Evo products yet to come,” said James Johnson-Flint, owner of Cambridge. “Watch out for further exciting developments coming to Evo!”
The OTA update will be available in May 2024 for all Evo models. Cambridge Audio Evo 150 DeLorean Edition (£2099/€2499/$3199) is available now in North America and Asia, and from April 2024 across Europe. Stocked at cambridgeaudio.com and selected retailers.
