How much is a million?
Here’s one example: If you took one million US dollar bills and laid them end to end, the chain of cash would stretch for 96.9 miles — roughly the distance from Manhattan to the Hamptons out on Long Island. Piling those same bills vertically would yield a stack taller than a 30-story building.
Speaking of one million: Crestron is rapidly approaching that very number of DM NVX AV-over-IP units that will have been shipped since the product’s introduction.
The reason: DM NVX AV-over-IP solutions are incredibly versatile — not to mention reliable. Here’s a peek at just two of the thousands of projects that feature DM NVX technology.
When you’re bringing an 18th-century Tuscan mansion into the modern age, you don’t have much room for cables. That’s why AV integrator Sereni Elettronica selected Crestron DM NVX AV-over-IP technology for this luxury home.
“Crestron technology allowed us to make a complex question into a simple solution,” said Daniele Sereni, co-owner of Sereni Elettronica.
A project that began as a retrofit of a single room evolved into a technology update that eventually spanned the entire property. That’s why ease of control was vital. Each source has a 4K output, so the homeowner simply needs to move the icon on their tablet to create a side-by-side, picture-in-picture display. Crestron DM NVX technology delivers every scene with zero latency and seamless content distribution, all of which are easily edited by the homeowner from a single tablet.
“We had used other systems in the past, but Crestron is definitely the best, “ the homeowner noted.
A yacht like the Mangusta Oceano 50.2 is something of a “boutique hotel on the water;” its owners and guests are accustomed to luxury, but the system needs to handle the demands of the crew, too. Security is paramount, and space is limited on a superyacht, so the system delivering the necessary content has to be a solution of utmost quality.
“As a designer and programmer, the flexibility of Crestron means the limit is only set by creativity,” said Giovanni Nucatola, designer/programmer at G2M Sistemi.
Crestron DM NVX AV-over-IP technology is used to distribute traditional satellite TV to the cabins and common areas of the Mangusta Oceano 50.2, but there’s more to the system than just entertainment: the crew needs to call up screens from the yacht navigation system and view multiscreen video feeds from the external cameras of the onboard CCTV system. (Piracy is a very real concern.) DM NVX AV-over-IP is scalable without a major retrofit, which is critical in the tight spaces seen in marine integrations.
“The system is extremely friendly for new users. I would recommend a Crestron system for any yacht,” said David Bello, chief engineer, crew of the Mangusta Oceano 50.2.
All of this leaves us with one question: What incredible projects will the next million products be part of?
