The CEDIA Foundation, in partnership with CEDIA, have launched a new program that’s aimed at fast tracking aspiring technicians into the smart home industry. The 100 Techs in 100 Days program, which runs from May 12 through August 20, will help interested applicants more easily make the move into a career as a technician in the custom integration channel. It’ll have a particular focus on serving those individuals from underprivileged communities, veterans, career changers, and students.
“Strengthening our workforce is one of the most important investments we can make to secure the future of our industry,” David Weinstein, CEDIA Foundation Chairperson, said in a statement announcing the program. “I’m deeply grateful for the early support of our members whose generous donations have helped bring 100 Techs in 100 Days to life so quickly.”
In coordination with the launch, the CEDIA Foundation put the ask out to CEDIA members, educators, and industry partners to help spread the word about the program. Whether expanding the reach of the program to additional applicants or making a monetary donation to help fund the program, the CEDIA Foundation views every action as an important step in creating a more robust workforce for the channel.
“CEDIA members are our best allies in getting this campaign off the ground because no one can describe this industry—or inspire the next generation—better than those already living it,” Tara Guertin, CEDIA Foundation Operations & Workforce Development Manager, said in the statement. “Whether it’s a family member, a tech-savvy neighbor, or a student in your class looking for their next step, a conversation or shared link could spark a life-changing career.”
Interested applicants are invited to complete the CEDIA Foundation Workforce Development Application form, which will make them eligible for the 100 Techs in 100 Days program. To learn more about the CEDIA Foundation, visit www.cediafoundation.org.
