Crestron DM NAX All-in-One Amplifier Scales to 256 Stereo Zones

June 17th, 2021 Jeremy Glowacki

Crestron Electronics has begun shipping DM NAX distributed Audio-over-IP (AoIP) amplifier. The all-in-one AoIP solution has been designed to enable users to toggle between TV audio, streaming music, podcasts, alarms, doorbells, and even paging and intercom usage to any speaker in the house.

“DM NAX takes whole-home audio to a new level by removing the scale and functionality constraints that used to bog down usability,” stated John Clancy, executive vice president, residential, at Crestron. “DM NAX is a solution that is easy for dealers to configure and provides effortless audio distribution that a homeowner can operate from their phone, touchscreen, remote, or tablet.”

DM NVX Works with Legacy Crestron Systems

Dealers who have worked with Crestron’s DM NVX products will find familiarity in DM NAX. It will integrate simply with legacy Crestron systems and offers extraordinary flexibility within its compact form factor, allowing for audio from any input to be sent to any output.

DM NAX provides the ability to scale to 256 stereo zones. DM NAX products are interoperable with AES67 and Dante audio networking, use hardwired connections, and require no custom network architecture or hardware. This interoperability and simple design allow integrators to use DM NAX to specify an entire house’s worth of audio systems with a single device.

Ease of install and ease of use are optimized with DM NAX, as it has been designed to enable dealers to easily configure systems with baked-in features that add further value to projects.

Selectable Speaker for DM NAX Profiles

Beyond native integration of music streaming services like Pandora, Internet Radio, and many more to come, DM NAX will allow for selectable speaker profiles throughout the house once paired. This feature will automatically optimize output on a speaker-by-speaker basis as integrators test settings in each environment throughout the space.

Other features include the choice of up to 40 built-in chimes for alerts like doorbells and door openings, with the ability to customize new alert chimes coming soon. Unlike other amplifiers, the substantial power of DM NAX does not come at the expense of efficiency. The unit is highly-power efficient and operates at low idle power even in “Always On” mode.

Homeowners will be able to control their audio with the Crestron Home or Crestron One App and will be able to seamlessly add streaming services as the list of native integrations expands. SiriusXM, Apple AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, Amazon Connected Speakers, and iHeartRadio services are expected to be available soon and Amazon Music, Deezer, Quboz, and TIDAL services are slated for later in 2021. These and other firmware updates will occur remotely though the cloud, saving time and troubleshooting for dealers.
