ADI | Snap One announced a new line of Episode outdoor speakers that the company says is built from the ground up in order to withstand some of the harshest elements. The Episode Extreme Environment Speakers are an architectural audio solution built to marine-grade standards, according to ADI | Snap One, expanding the brand’s current outdoor offering into some of the most extreme high-heat, high-moisture environments.
The speakers have undergone some rigorous testing to ensure they meet the quality and performance both the company and their residential and commercial consumers have come to expect, according to the company.
“With this launch, ADI | Snap One empowers customers to expand their audio services into new environments—from patios and pool decks to yacht interiors and hospitality steam rooms,” Jason Winchester, SVP Chief Product Officer at ADI | Snap One, said in a statement. “As a combined business, we’re dedicated to innovating our products to help better serve our customers and end-users. Therefore, we designed the new Episode Extreme Series speakers to unlock previously unreachable installations where full waterproofing and heat endurance are non-negotiable.”
The speakers are available globally, and the lineup includes new 6-inch and 8-inch In-Ceiling Extreme Environment Speakers and new 6-inch and 8-inch Replacement Grilles that come in black and white.
As for their durability, the line can withstand temperatures up to 90-degrees Celsius (194-degrees Fahrenheit), they’re IP67-rated for water intrusion, and can handle hurricane force winds, according to ADI | Snap One. The factory-sealed rear enclosure and hydrophobic PCB coating are intended to provide consistent performance in all types of environments—including saunas and heavily exposed outdoor areas—while preventing rust and other elemental wear-and-tear.
Even with the element-conscious design, the speakers still maintain Episode’s signature audio fidelity, delivering detailed and room-filling audio. And, keeping the professional integrator in mind, the speakers have been designed in a way that makes them simple to install. They fit existing Episode rough-in brackets and cutouts, allowing for a seamless upgrade experience for current customers.
