French audio powerhouse Focal has always been known to push the limits of just about every aspect of the audio category, from their innovative designs to the impressive performance as seen throughout their entire portfolio. That tradition continues with the brand’s newest entrant into the Diva Utopia line—the Diva Mezza Utopia loudspeakers. Focal says the product represents a “significant leap forward” in their goal of redefining the home Hi-Fi experience.
Everything about the Diva Mezza Utopia loudspeakers is, in a word, bigger. The four 8-inch ‘W’ cone woofers are 4cm larger than its predecessor, and arranged in a way that will generate deeper and more dynamic, controlled bass. That lays the foundation that allows the ‘M’-shaped Beryllium tweeter and ‘W’ cone midrange driver to excel at delivering a wider and more accurate soundstage. And, at the heart of it all, the Naim electronics package that this system is built around is driven by 500 watts of power per speaker that’s precision-managed across the entire frequency range.
Simply put, these are capable of efficiently driving some of the most demanding musical experiences in a seamless, intelligent way. The Mezza’s fit perfectly into this ‘New Hi-Fi’ mold that Focal aims to present, which is defined as cutting-edge, but delivered in a way that is intuitive and simple for any user.
There’s a ton more technical specs and proprietary platforms baked into the product that combine to make these loudspeakers impressive. But what’s always stood out to me about Focal is the incredible craftsmanship of their product. Attention to every detail is apparent no matter the category, and these Diva Mezza Utopias are no different. The body is built out of high-density polymer while the speaker rests on a double-level, beveled base that features floating side panels—a signature of the Diva Utopia range.
From top to bottom, the Diva Mezza Utopias are a sight to behold, and they perform in a way that’ll leave users blown away.
They launch in July and will be available exclusively through the Focal Powered by Naim network of authorized retailers for $69,000.
