Hunter Douglas ‘Kickback’ Pulls Roller Shades Closer to the Window

A new Kickback roller motor design for Hunter Douglas Sonnette Cellular Roller Shades adds an extra rotation that brings the automated roller shades even closer for a flush fit to the window.

The Sonnette Cellular Roller Shades are designed to add dimensional beauty and energy efficiency, as well. The softly curved construction with cellular pockets features a discrete second fabric layer to create insulation.

Sonnette Shades are the only roller shade with an energy performance rating from the Attachments Energy Rating Council (AERC), supported by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).

Hunter Douglas created Kickback for its traditional front roll design, expanding the application of the Sonnette shades to a range of window depths.

How Kickback Works on Roller Shades

When the automated shade is lowered in the window, the kickback motion pushes the back of the shade closer to the window, decreasing the light gap and increasing privacy.

It also improves insulation, allowing the cellular pockets to better trap warm air to help maintain the heat in cold winters and lock in air conditioning in the summer.

Check out this video clip to better understand how Kickback works.

Automation Improves Energy Efficiency

Automation makes it easier for homeowners to increase their energy efficiency. With PowerView Automation, homeowners can control their roller shades from the Pebble Remote or by voice command. They also can use the app to set scenes and schedules that suit their routines and home to automatically raise and lower the shades.

PowerView enables Sonnette roller shades to work with most smart homes. Dealers can integrate any Hunter Douglas shades with PowerView to scenes and schedules in professionally installed smart home systems, such as Control4, Crestron, Savant, Elan, IFTTT, Logitech Harmony Home, Universal Remote Control, and RTI.

The Sonnette Cellular Shades are designed to suit any aesthetic. Homeowners can choose between room-darkening or light-filtering fabrics, with a range of neutral colors and fabric textures available.

The shades can have wired power or use the new Rechargeable Battery Wand, a convenient and sustainable solution that is easy to remove, recharge, and replace.
