Writing that headline, it feels like our industry’s version of showing up to a relative’s kid’s birthday party and dropping that cliche line, “I remember when you were just this big,” and then pinching them on the cheek before they grab that gift out of your hand and run away. Josh.ai turns 10 years old this year, and I can still remember writing articles about their first launch on a Mac Mini that was followed up not long after by the groundbreaking debut of the Josh Micro.
Back then, the promise was that Josh would deliver an experience that catered to the custom integration channel, providing dealers with an option that was easier to work with than the mass market, commoditized voice assistants that were just starting to mature in the market. The company still holds itself to that standard and has really done well to set itself apart in the decade since.
Now, to celebrate the milestone, Josh.ai has announced a limited edition run of hardware. The special version of the Josh One will be available for a short time in a stunning metallic gold finish. The run will be available in limited quantities as a promotion to current Josh.ai dealers.
“The last ten years have flown by thanks to the excitement and commitment of our partners,” Josh.ai CEO Alex Capecelatro said in a statement. “We are proud to have built a company focused on building dealers the solutions they need to enable simple, magical, and private smart home experiences in the era of AI.”
In the 10 years since its debut, Josh.ai has strategically grown, both as a company and in terms of its offering to the channel. Once just a piece of software, the Josh portfolio now includes multiple hardware products – including the Josh Core, Josh One, Josh Micro, Josh Nano, multiple Josh remotes, and more. The Josh platform itself hasn’t slowed down innovating either and now includes features like DoorLink, a new music controller, and the always-improving JoshGPT assistant.
“It has been a wild ride for our team with so many memorable moments and achievements,” Capecelatro said. “I cannot wait to see where Josh.ai will be in another decade!”
