Azione Unlimited, the Smart Home Association for custom integration professionals, has appointed Patrick McCarthy as its new executive director, effective immediately. McCarthy assumed the role after a brief term as interim executive director, during which he demonstrated leadership and growth for the organization.
“Patrick has shown incredible personal and professional development, and his passion for our industry and commitment to Azione Unlimited dealer and vendor members makes him the ideal candidate for this role,” says Andy Orozco, senior vice president for custom integration at Nationwide Marketing Group. “We look forward to the fresh perspective and new ideas he will bring to the group as we push forward into the future.”
McCarthy joined Azione Unlimited in May 2019 as director of new business development and member services, where he engaged directly with dealer and vendor members to provide support and foster development. After being appointed interim executive director in June, McCarthy took on additional responsibilities, guiding the organization through a transitional period in leadership.
As executive director, he will continue to work closely with the Azione team and advisory board to drive the organization’s strategic vision and oversee daily operations.
“I’m truly honored to step into the role of executive director at this exciting juncture for Azione Unlimited,” McCarthy said. “Over the years, we’ve seen tremendous evolution within our company, our membership, and the industry as a whole. As technology advances and new challenges emerge, we’re eager to lead both our team and our community in tackling these opportunities head-on. My commitment is to support our dealer and vendor members in navigating the ever-changing landscape, fostering innovation, and addressing their evolving needs. Together, we’ll continue to grow and strengthen Azione Unlimited as the premier destination for the brightest minds and highest-caliber businesses in the custom integration space.”
McCarthy’s appointment is the result of a rigorous and thorough search process to find a successor for Azione Unlimited’s founder, Richard Glikes, who stepped aside earlier this year.
“Patrick has been there for the past five-plus years, learning and growing within the Azione Unlimited team as well as in the broader custom integration channel,” said Tom Hickman, CEO of Nationwide Marketing Group. “He’s demonstrated his expertise and acumen during this period of transition, and he’s certainly earned the trust and commitment of our organization that he’s the right person for the job.”
The Azione and Nationwide teams expressed their gratitude to the Azione community for its patience and active engagement throughout the search process.
“I would like to thank all of our members who took the time to reach out and share their insights with me,” Orozco added. “The voice of our members remains paramount, and I promise to continue listening as we work together toward the future of Azione Unlimited. In particular, I want to thank the advisory board members who partnered with me throughout this process, volunteering their time because they truly care about the group and its members. Their commitment and insights were essential in helping us make a thoughtful and informed decision.”
In his new role, McCarthy will have his first opportunity to connect with the Azione Unlimited community in person at the upcoming Fall Conference, which will be held October 21–23 at The Omni in San Diego.
