SwitchBot Hub 2 Firmware Update Expands Matter Support

In a firmware update to its Hub 2, SwitchBot has expanded its Matter-compatible offerings to include 10 additional products, comprising the world’s smallest robot vacuum, the SwitchBot K10+, and the upcoming fully automatic, auto-refill, and auto-drain Floor Cleaning Robot, the SwitchBot S10.

Potentially the most important aspect of this update is the addition of SwitchBot’s popular lighting products to the Matter ecosystem. The SwitchBot Color Bulb, Ceiling Light, and Strip Light can now be controlled directly through Matter when used with SwitchBot Hub 2.

This move aims to provide users with seamless integration of SwitchBot devices across various smart home ecosystems, including Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, and SmartThings.

SwitchBot has been in business since 2016 with a focus on offering products that make the existing items in your home smart. Last year, SwitchBot released its first Matter-supported smart hub, SwitchBot Hub 2, which allowed users to expose some of the company’s products as Matter compatible using SwitchBot Hub 2 as a Matter bridge.

SwitchBot has increased the number of SwitchBot sub-devices that can be controlled through Matter from six to eight, as well, making it even easier for users to integrate their SwitchBot products with Matter. SwitchBot Blind Tilt devices and SwitchBot Curtains can be grouped so multiple SwitchBot devices for controlling window coverings can be controlled through Matter while only acting as a single sub-device.

In addition to the lighting products and floor cleaning robots, SwitchBot also has added the SwitchBot Plug Mini, SwitchBot Evaporative Humidifier (coming later this year), and SwitchBot Battery Circulator Fan to the list of Matter-supported devices, further expanding the company’s commitment to the new smart home standard.

SwitchBot’s dedication to Matter is evident in its continuous efforts to provide better support and integration for its products. The company is actively working to expand its Matter-compatible offerings, ensuring that users can enjoy a truly seamless and integrated smart home experience.
