The Cinema Designer (TCD), creators of the TCD software tool for home cinema design professionals, has introduced TCD 2.0. The product’s 7,000-plus users from 66 countries will immediately and automatically have access at no extra cost to the new features and enhanced functionality of the software.
Founded in 2014 by leading home cinema designer Guy Singleton, TCD is committed to making home cinema design a standards-driven process. With its advanced technical calculations and intuitive workflow, TCD creates home cinema designs in a matter of just minutes. Since early 2022, when ownership of the software returned to its original creators, the TCD team has been working to create a ground-up redesign.
TCD 2.0 offers a new 3D environment in which to build a cinema design. New bass and model wave forms with the software now show where nulls and room modes will occur, and interactive speaker layouts move in real-time with the main listening position location.
New database features within TCD 2.0 also allow the user/designer to add their own products for each design. Also, a new acoustic treatment placement feature (within predetermined zones for absorption, diffusion, reflection, and bass management) will be available in April 2023.
Over the coming weeks, Singleton will host online training webinars for users of the tool, where he will introduce participants to the tool’s workflow, with a focus on new features. To sign up for a session, users should email welcome@thecinemadesigner.com.
“TCD is committed to providing our users with the most advanced and intuitive tool for home cinema design,” Singleton said. “These new features are the result of our extensive redesign, and we believe they will make the home cinema design process even more efficient, enjoyable and profitable for our users.”
“After viewing a demo of TCD 2.0, I am convinced that it will continue to revolutionize the industry, and CEDIA members will undoubtedly benefit from its new, game-changing features,” said Daryl Friedman, global president and CEO of CEDIA. “CEDIA’s partnership with TCD enables our members to access to this exciting platform at a substantial cost reduction, and I look forward to personally working with Guy to champion this valuable member benefit within the CEDIA community.”
David Pedigo, global director of training at Trinnov, echoed that sentiment. “We at Trinnov Audio strongly believe in The Cinema Designer and encourage all integrators to utilize it in your cinema and media room designs, regardless of size. TCD 2.0 is an immensely powerful tool providing technically accurate cinema design based on engineering and industry best practices.”
