With how robust the Josh.ai product and feature portfolio has become, it’s hard to believe that the company’s story still hasn’t even entered its middle school years. As Josh continues to mature both as a company and a platform, their team remains committed to providing solutions that elevate the home automation experience for the consumer and allow integrators to become that trusted advisor for their clients.
That commitment shined through in a major way during Josh’s 2025 Winter Launch Event this week, which was packed with myriad software and product updates.
“I am blown away by the amount of new innovations and solutions our team is announcing today,” Josh.ai CEO Alex Capecelatro said in a statement. “In addition to giving dealers what they have been asking for, we are enabling an easier, more powerful smart home experience for everyone. These updates will certainly have a sizable impact on how our industry looks at control in the age of AI.”
At the core of what Josh does is a promise to provide “simple, private, and magical” experiences for the end user. Each of the announcements made this week tap into that mission. Here’s a snapshot of what was covered during the event:
Nimble DevSuite and Partner Ecosystem Expands. Over a dozen new partnership updates and integrations were announced by Josh. The fast expansion of supported products is just the latest example of how the Nimble DevSuite can make quick work of new integrations – putting to rest concerns about interoperability issues in the ever-evolving world of smart home technology. The list of newly supported products, which will be made available via an OTA update later this month, includes everything from shades and lighting, thermostats, projectors, security cameras, switchers and more from top brands in the industry.
JoshGPT Updated to 3.0. Since its early iterations, the Josh voice platform has been uniquely built to handle complex commands from the user. That remains true with the latest updates to the company’s in-home generative AI platform, JoshGPT. In addition to making device control and assistance “more seamless” and the interactions with the platform “faster, smarter, and more contextual,” JoshGPT 3.0 adds support for sports fan prompts, random factoids (like “how many Josh Micros would fit in a Ferrari Roma?”), tunable lighting control, and unique entertainment search functionality. If you’re like me and can’t, for the life of yourself, remember the name of a song but can describe what it’s about – like, “hey, Josh, play that song about drinking pina coladas in the rain” – Josh will make life easier.
DoorLink Launches. Following up on a promise to provide total property control from anywhere, the Josh team announced DoorLink, an AI-powered access control feature that will let homeowners see, communicate and control property access from a Josh Touchscreen or the Josh App. DoorLink gives homeowners the ability to receive motion-detection alerts, camera analysis and generative surveillance insights, and two-way intercom with compatible door stations – and the ability to remotely unlock gated access points with a simple voice prompt or tap of a button.
Updated Josh One Hardware. The entry-level Josh One control processor received some cosmetic updates – namely a much more compact form factor that’ll make it easier for integrators to mount or place the device in a project.
A Centralized Audio Experience and Music Controller. Lastly, the Josh team unveiled a reimagined entertainment experience through the Josh App that is intended to bring all of the users streaming audio content under one roof through a new audio controller in the Josh App. According to Josh, the new experience will provide dynamic content personalization and advanced multi-zone AV routing, meaning the user can ask Josh to play the audio from, say, the living room TV in the kitchen. The new music controller launched this week and includes support for Sonos, Autonomic, and Denon Heos. In tandem with that launch, Josh also rolled out support for WiiM and said it will push a BluOS integration later this month.
