Achieving better health and wellness is top of mind for many people. For many, however, it’s a goal that’s much easier said than done. It takes time, resources, and willpower to commit to a regular self-care routine for better mental and physical well-being. One Indiana couple also factored technology into their health and wellness endeavor, hiring a professional systems integration company to select, design, and install advanced AV, lighting, automation, networking, security, and access control from Snap One into their newly built Turkish-style bathhouse.
Simple Bathhouse to a Smart Haven
At the start of construction, the tech plan for the 2,500-square-foot bathhouse included a couple of TVs, some speakers, and a simple prewire for internet access. As the health-conscious owners learned about the many other tech possibilities from the systems integrators at The Premier Group, the project grew considerably.
“This was the classic case of clients who weren’t sure what they wanted but were open to explore all ideas,” said The Premier Group’s Jason Barth. “Once we explained the lifestyle-enriching benefits of many technologies and products from the Snap One portfolio, they were quickly on board.”
A clear necessity for the bathhouse, which sits on the far edge of the property from the main house, was a controlled callbox at the gate, and a Control4 electronic door lock solution for the pool house itself. This would allow the owners, their extended family, and guests to use the lap pool, plunge pool, hot tub, sauna, and other equipment freely, whether the homeowners were home or not. All a visitor needs is a code, which the owners were thrilled to learn could be easily assigned to specific people via a Control4 app on their smartphones and authenticated via the full-scale Control4 automation system The Premier Group designed, customized, and installed to manage every aspect of the bathhouse environment.
Elevating Wellness with Seamless Controls
The Control4 OS3 mobile app via 4Sight, along with wall-mounted touchpanels and handheld remotes, grants quick and easy control over an eight-zone AV distribution system, SunBrite and Sony TVs, dimmable architectural lighting, and a three-zone heating and cooling system, while an integrated ClareOne alarm system protects the property.
The owners can access components stored in a central rack to select a piece of music to play over speakers, choose a workout program to display on the poolside TV, and set the lights and temperature perfectly for the intended fitness endeavor.
Naturally, swimming laps and relaxing in a sauna are completely different, so The Premier Group gave the owners autonomy over the settings of each area of the bathhouse. For example, via any Control4 interface, they can bring energizing music and bright lights to the pool area and request soothing tunes and subtle lighting for the hot tub and sauna. Thanks to its high level of customization, integration-friendliness, and advanced capabilities, the Control4 system caters to a wide range of health and wellness pursuits.
For even greater convenience, the owners can create the ideal environment before they even step foot in the Turkish bathhouse. A Control4 touch panel in the main house communicates over a highway of fiber optic cable to the Control4 controller in the bathhouse, which relays commands to the appropriate equipment. In an instant, the bathhouse is ready and exterior lighting automatically activates at dusk to lead the way. When they return to the house after a relaxation or workout session, tapping the Close button on an interface deactivates the AV and lighting, adjusts the heating/cooling system to an energy-saving setting, locks the door and gate, and puts the exterior Luma cameras on high alert.
Behind the scenes, Access Networks A350 Unleashed Access Points, Araknis Managed Gigabit Switches, Strong racks, Wirepath wiring, and WattBox power accessories provide internet access, connectivity, support, and control.
“Specialty projects like this give us a chance to apply the technologies we’ve used in homes for decades but in a slightly different way,” Barth said. “The Turkish bathhouse was a dramatic departure in style and tech from the owners’ residence, which signifies the remarkable versatility of Snap One’s smart home solutions.”
By listening carefully to the needs of the owners and applying their own unique twist to the technology, The Premier Group developed a winning formula for home-based health and wellness environments.
