HDR10+ Technologies LLC, an industry group with more than 150 adopters, related partners, and nearly 9,000 supported devices, has announced the availability of new HDR10+ GAMING titles from some of the top developers in the game industry. The announcement is the latest in a series of HDR10+ related developments that have occurred over the past year.
HDR10+ dynamic metadata delivers a number of benefits, including improved brightness and contrast; robust standardization; ease-of-implementation; global certification; no licensing fees, and compatibility with HDR10. HDR10+ GAMING extends these benefits to game content and displays and automatically calibrates the HDR levels between them.
“The use of HDR10+ technologies has grown exponentially to fully encompass a variety of platforms and providers,” said Bill Mandel, the co-manager of HDR10+ Technologies LLC. “Now with the availability of plug-in cards from NVIDIA, game studios and developers can also realize the full benefits of HDR10+ GAMING on certified monitors and televisions.”
Compelling HDR10+ Titles
The inaugural HDR10+ GAMING title, The First Descendant, was announced this past September in cooperation with Nexon Studios. The game, which is scheduled to be released in Summer 2024, can be played on most current PCs.
It was followed by the HDR10+ version of the highly acclaimed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, a first-person shooter game that serves as the third and final installment in the classic Modern Warfare Trilogy (and the eighth Call of Duty title to date). This landmark HDR10+ game was released on November 9, along with an updated HDR10+ GAMING GUI which will be available in early 2024.
Additionally, this past month saw the release of Cyberpunk 2077, a new open-world, action adventure role playing game set in the deadliest city of the dark future. The game, which features rockstar and terrorist Johnny Silverhand, enables players to explore the secrets of a powerful cybernetic implant. It also comes packaged with Phantom Liberty, a new spy thriller adventure that takes a deep dive into the shadowy world of espionage and political struggle.
Przemek Czatrowski, engineering manager, rendering at CD PROJEKT RED stated: “HDR10+ elevates the color experience in Cyberpunk 2077 to an entirely new level. Our engine harnesses HDR10+ technology, along with the full capabilities of compatible screens, to produce frames calibrated specifically for each individual monitor. This ensures the best performance on all HDR10+ supported hardware.”
The HDR10+ GAMING enabled version of Cyberpunk 2077 and Phantom Liberty was released on December 5 and is available for PCs.
These new HDR10+ GAMING titles are just the first in a series of new games that are expected to be announced during 2024.
