Audio Advice, the Wilmington, NC specialty retailer, has acquired The Audio Lab, which has been serving the coastal Carolinas from its own iconic Wilmington store for more than 30 years.
“We are super excited to welcome The Audio Lab and its terrific team to the Audio Advice family,” said Scott Newnam, CEO of Audio Advice. “We believe this combination will allow us to provide the best of both companies to customers throughout the Carolinas”

Bill Rudisill, owner of The Audio Lab, said, “I am extremely proud of what we have at The Audio Lab and could not be more happy with our team joining the Audio Advice family. The more I have learned about Audio Advice and watched how they have embraced our team, the more excited I have become for our team. Audio Advice is bringing a level of training, reputation, and investment into our team and showroom that makes me incredibly happy.”
Audio Advice, which was founded in 1978, has large, world-class showrooms in Raleigh and Charlotte that allow consumers to experience everything from smart home systems, controlled lighting, and shades, to every level of audio products and home theaters.
“We believe in having large best-in-class showrooms that allow consumers to touch, feel, and experience everything before buying,” said Gregg Chopper, chief operating officer of Audio Advice. “While this requires a substantial and continued investment, we believe it provides massive value to consumers and brands. To that end, we will invest in The Audio Lab showroom in Wilmington to be consistent with our other award-winning showrooms.”
Chopper added that in addition to providing the combined expertise in Wilmington for The Audio Lab customers, this combination allows Audio Advice to better serve its customers who have second homes at the area’s beach cities. “We now have by far the largest team of expert sales professionals, system designers, installation technicians, and service and support personnel throughout the Carolinas. This should allow us to bring our mission of “Delivering Happiness” to an even larger set of customers,” he said.
Audio Advice is known nationwide for its expertise in audio and home theaters, including its massive library of more than 750 how-to, product review, and buyer guide videos, and its patented Home Theater Design Tool, all available for free at www.audioadvice.com. In addition, the company hosts the nation’s largest consumer home theater show and audio show each year in Raleigh. The show, Audio Advice Live, will take place from August 2-4 this year at the Sheraton in downtown Raleigh — details and registration are at live.audioadvice.com.
