Bedrock Learning Offers New Smart Home Technician Courses

May 16th, 2019 Residential Tech Today

Bedrock Learning, Inc., an online training solution provider, has expanded its curriculum and commitment to train technicians with the release of new and updated online courses, including the first one in Spanish to serve the U.S., Mexico, and South America.

Today, there’s an extreme shortage of skilled installers to deliver connectivity, smart homes, and intelligent buildings. Recognizing that future need 15 years ago, Bedrock Learning emerged to help prepare technicians for the field with generic, vendor-neutral, online training. To help spread the word about vocational opportunities and potential careers it recently created Intelligent Building and Connected Home CAREER PATHS, a free one-page infographic.

“Our team strives to simplify technology so everyone understands the principles, learns the material, and achieves their goals,” stated Helen Heneveld, president and founder of Bedrock Learning. “Over the years, we’ve honed the techniques and content to demystify the technology behind the products, make learning fun, and empower manufacturers to focus their training on product features and installation. We are obsessed with helping everyone succeed in the industry.”

Just released, The Connected World online course gives an overview of the smart home industry and IoT, Internet of Things, along with presenting trends and future technologies in our rapidly changing world. This four-hour course offers the latest information and statistics on the digital revolution.

Every company involved in manufacturing, promotion of products or services, and sales in connectivity will profit by having a knowledgeable team. Both laymen and technicians benefit from learning the subsystems in an integrated building, understanding project phases, and knowing the stakeholders of an installation.

The course is recommended for all types of employees; sales, marketing, management, field workers, and anyone interested in learning about today’s digital living. This $99 investment is available 24/7. Students work at their own pace and receive a Certificate of Completion confirming knowledge and understanding of today’s connected life.

For technicians starting out in the field, or those who could benefit from a refresher, the updated 8-hour online course, Fundamentals for Electronic Systems Technicians, lays a solid foundation covering construction and electrical basics, jobsite safety, tools and industry standards, fasteners and anchors, structured wiring, testing, and troubleshooting. This course includes U.S. and Mexico building techniques and codes and is now available in Spanish with full voice-over.

Like all Bedrock Learning courses, the instructional content was developed by industry experts in combination with proven, effective learning approaches. This online course features eight-hours of instruction and assessments, a final test, and a Certificate of Completion. It also prepares the student for entry-level industry certification C-EST (Certified Electronic Systems Technician) by ESPA, Electronic systems Professional Alliance.
