Ethereal, formerly MetraAV, announced today a new integration between its Big Dog Power brand of smart power distribution products and RTI, the provider control and automation systems. This integration, enabled by the new Big Dog Power driver for RTI systems, enables seamless residential and commercial power control and automation for integrators, dealers, and end-users to enhance the smart home and smart business experience.

RTI dealers can now create pages in the RTI interface for client control and monitoring of Big Dog devices. The integration of Big Dog power management is one more tool enabling them to keep client installations operating at top efficiency.

For example, a macro can be programmed to run if the internet at home goes down, with an appropriate sequence to bring the connected devices back online. Integrators using RTiQ remote management can call a macro to restart outlets from within RTiQ, providing an additional level of remote support.

“The new integration with Big Dog Power adds important control of outlets and connected devices to any RTI system,” said RTI Director of Product Management Neal Ellsworth. “RTI dealers can now integrate any Big Dog power management device into their RTI system, from rack-mounted power distribution units to intelligent wall-mounted power and smart plugs.”

Big Dog Power’s 12-Outlet Smart Power Distribution Unit combines all the features integrators need into one device to deliver surge protection, remote control, smart home integration, rack temperature management, and more. Twelve individually controllable outlets have power metering, self-healing, and automatic reboot capabilities for smarter and easier remote management of connected devices. When surges occur, two removable surge protection modules can be replaced without sacrificing the entire PDU, making this solution unique and cost-effective.

The new RTI Big Dog driver enables full control of Big Dog power management devices connected to the RTI control system, such as turning on, off, or power-cycling outlets. The integration enables power management actions to be triggered by control system events, such as turning on outlets when the garage door opens, or when the homeowner enters a code into a smart door lock. This allows the user to trigger a desired “welcome home” sequence of events, such as turning on lights, starting music, turning on televisions, and more. The pairing of these two technologies also makes it easy for users to remotely monitor their home or business, and to turn power outlets on or off while away such as when on vacation.

This integration will provide peace of mind to customers, while reducing the number of service calls they will need to make to their integration professionals.

Any custom integrators or retailers who would like more information on this partnership should contact their Ethereal sales representative.
