CEDIA’s new white paper explores the cable considered the global standard for transmitting ultra-high-definition video and audio. “HDBaseT for 4K & 8K Video” aligns with CEDIA’s global, strategic mission to serve as the primary source of design and installation standards, guidelines, and best practices for the home technology integration industry.

“We examine the topic of HDBaseT to provide more clarity for integrators on a highly complex technology that is seeing increased adoption and a growing slate of use scenarios,” said Senior Director of Technology and Standards Walt Zerbe.

“HDBaseT has been on the market for over a decade and systems are emerging every day that deliver better sound and picture, demanding this top-level pipeline,” Zerbe added. “The goal of the white paper is to foster a broader perspective of the technology’s full scope of application, so members can be prepared for what’s next.”

From its development to its specifications to its ongoing evolution, “HDBaseT for 4K & 8K Video” covers a host of angles, including: bandwidth challenges, compression, compatibility, Power-over-HDBaseT (PoH) approaches, system design, and more. CEDIA includes details that run the gamut from the highly-technical to the practical after tapping into heavily-vetted source materials.

Publication of the resource follows recent releases of white papers including “AV-Over-IP Systems,” “Quality of Power,” and “ Integrators Guide to Video: Colorimetry.” Blustream, which designs and engineers audio/video distribution products that are distributed globally and has headquarters locations in Australia and the United Kingdom, provided expertise for the white paper.

CEDIA members have complimentary access to “HDBaseT for 4K & 8K Video” ($99 for non-members) and more information on CEDIA’s portfolio of white papers is available by clicking here.
