Pangea Audio Distributing, a developer and manufacturer of high performance, today rolled out two new cables that mark the introduction of the new XL flagship series.
The two models — Premier XL True Balanced Interconnect XLR to XLR and XL Interconnect RCA to RCA — represent a new high bar for similarly priced products.

Jay Victor, one of the industry’s leading designers of analog and digital cables, brought his 40 years of experience to the new models, each of which incorporates a multi-gauge conductor design that, when blended with Cardas Grade One Copper Conductors and other premium ingredients, result in cables that offer a price-to-performance ratio that is typically unheard of in the audiophile market, according to the company.
“Until recently, our Premier cables were positioned as top-of-the-line, and a big hit with audiophiles and anyone who wants to get the most out of their audio system,” said Pangea Audio’s director of global sales, Steve Niemi. “But, we’re always focused on the future, which is why we committed to developing a new series that further enhances the listening experience with audiophile-grade performance that beats other cables in their price class.”
Exemplifying the new True Balanced cable standard established by Pangea Audio, the XL Balanced Interconnect XLR to XLR cables feature three independently insulated conductors and a three-layer outer shield. The company’s Multi-Gauge Conductor Design with premium Cardas Grade One Copper is wrapped in PE (Polyethylene) air tube insulation to reinforce integrity of the signal. Pangea Audio uses PE air tube insulation because it is widely acknowledged as the ideal insulator.
True Balanced Premier XL includes three layers of shielding to combat RFI and EMI noise. These layers consist of a silver-plated copper braided shield, an aluminum/mylar foil shield, and a carbon-filled PE shield that provides an additional layer of shielding for an even quieter cable without compromising cable flexibility. Triple-layer shielding is far superior to dual-layer shielding, because the middle layer provides a clear pathway to drain unwanted radio frequency (RF) and electromagnetic (EM) noise to maintain the purity of the audio signal.
Rounding out the XL Balanced Interconnect are top-grade XLR 500 connectors that feature gold-plated solid pins, machined metal covers, advanced polymer insulators, and a high-quality locking mechanism. Connectors are plated in black chrome because it resists chipping and scratching.
The Premier XL Balanced Interconnect XLR to XLR is available in singles or pairs, in lengths of 0.6m, 1m, 1.5m, 2m, 3m, 5m, 7.5m, and 10m.
Similar to the Balanced Interconnect, the new Pangea XL Interconnect RCA to RCA uses three layers of shielding to combat RFI and EMI noise. A carbon-filled PE shield that provides an additional layer of shielding for an even quieter cable without compromising cable flexibility.
Pangea Audio’s Prime 750 RCA connector brings an ultra-low mass design to the cable, combining the benefits of exotic metals while avoiding technical problems that are caused by using higher mass metal contacts.
An ultra-low-mass, hollow, direct-gold plated Tellurium Copper center pin and ultra-low-mass direct-gold plated beryllium copper spring-type ground contacts for maximum connectivity. Instead of a heavier metal ring, Prime 750 uses an advanced polymer insulator to hold the connector together, further reducing the amount of metal required in the connector. The outer shell or cover is made from non-magnetic brass treated with a tough-as-nails scratch-and-chip-resistant black chrome plating.
The Pangea XL Interconnect RCA to RCA is available in singles or pairs, in lengths of 0.6m, 1m, 1.5m, 2m, 3m, 5m, 7.5m, and 10m.
