It seems that it started with doorbells and Amazon Alexas and spread throughout the home. Now, nearly everyday appliances commonly boast some “smart” option.

In September, Amazon even unveiled a smart microwave, which comes with full Alexa voice control and the company’s Dash service to conveniently replenish your pantry.

With smart appliances invading the home, we’re taking a look at the statistics that reveal just how prevalent this market has become and which devices are dominating the pack.

Key Points from the Smart Appliance Market

Here’s a breakdown of the key data:

  1. Smart appliance revenue has grown every year since 2016 and is expected to jump over 30% from now until 2022.
  2. By 2020, the smart appliance shares will be as follows: air conditioners 37%, refrigerators 28%, washing machines 27%, dishwashers 4%, clothes dryers 2%, and large cooking appliances 2%.
  3. Top concerns about owning smart appliances include price, data privacy, internet reliance, hacking.
  4. Smart appliance market worth to hit $37.2 billion by 2020.
